“Valentino” December 1998 – October 2014

our precious Valentino, “Tino” or “Mr Winchester,” died on October 11, 2014. he was sweet, funny to the end, obnoxious and a real lover. his name couldn’t have been more suited to who he was. he was happiest on someones lap or sleeping next to them.

i miss him every single day.  the house is so quiet now, there’s no little guy to take care of, to make sure he’s comfortable and free of distress. he couldn’t see you until you were a few inches away and his tail would wag for a second or two, after he flinched from the surprise.

his body may be gone, but his consciousness has become one with the universe and i hope to meet him again one day. the vessel that was Valentino is buried under our pear tree and i say good morning and remember him each day, looking out at the tree from our kitchen window. next year we will have and enjoy Valentino pears.

we have so many pictures of him it’s ridiculous. here are just a few.

thank you, Gaye. yes, little guy – big love. it’s so quiet around here. i keep looking for him sleeping and want to check his breathing, like i used to do. he was so miserable toward the end, though. i’m so grateful to have had him in our lives as long as we did. take care and i’ll see you soon, tari

  2. Tari, I’m so sorry for your loss. Valentino’s delightful spirit shines through brightly in those photos…what a joy that you shared so much of your lives together! Our beloved dog Denali died last year and I continue to miss her deeply, but am also continually inspired by her love and goodness… what a joy to connect that way with another being! My heart goes out to you….may you continue to be inspired by Valentino’s spirit! and by the Valentino blossoms, leaves and pears! kathy

thank you, kathy. it seems many others know what it’s like to lose a pet. Valentino was part of the family for such a long time, i still look for him. by the time he left his body, it wasn’t working for him anymore. now he’s free. thanks again

My thoughts are with you. It is so hard to see a beloved pet go. We had to put Kiki to sleep this summer. She is buried at the bottom of the garden with Screamer and Tulsa. She was the best guard cat so stoic and sweet. They are small but they can feel a house with their spirit. Valentino pears will be perfect.

thank you. there were little beds and blankets in each room for Valentino so he could be comfortable wherever he was. i still look for him. as little as he was, he sure made and makes an impact on the energy in the house. sorry to hear about Kiki. its never easy.
